huggingcompetition: (nervous)

He is about to say that he was surprised he hadn't heard anything, until he considers the year prior, when he'd gotten a really strange package in the PO box that was set up specifically for fanmail. It had been confiscated as a suspicious parcel before he'd even gotten to see the writing on it. That had happened a lot in the last handful of years, and while he'd agreed that it was safer to just dispose of weird, frankly stalker-like mail clogging his inbox, part of him had wondered just where all this was coming from. He'd never had a fan so adamant. But back then he'd still been certain that he'd come home alone, in those moments he could still convince himself of the validity of his memories.

"I...I moved recently, and got a new phone when the old one died. It had to have a different number. When I tried to connect to yours it said it was out of service, or it didn't exist. So I thought..." He trailed off, swallowing hard. He'd thought Reno just wasn't there, and wasn't coming. His hands fall away from Reno's face, one staying curled around the other man's fingers loosely.

After a moment he gestures to the new duds Reno was wearing. "You look good," he offers somewhat lamely. The only real physical difference he could see as he is in the man was the slight wanness of his face. There was probably more he couldn't see yet, underneath the layers.
